Tribute paid to the memory of the First President of Uzbekistan

On September 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a wreath at the Islam Karimov Monument in Tashkent paid tribute to the blessed memory of the First President of Uzbekistan.

In accordance with a decree signed 25 January 2017, the date of September 2 was declared as the Day of Remembrance of the First President. Respect for the history of the country, honoring Islam Karimov’s merits serves to boost the spiritual world of our people, especially youth.

In his speech at the festive event dedicated to the twenty-ninth anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the achievement of state independence under the leadership of the First President was an event of exceptional significance that made the centuries-old dream come true.

The wreath laying ceremony today was followed by the recital of Surahs from the Holy Koran at the Islam Karimov Scientific and Educational Memorial Complex.

Members of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Presidential Administration, Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and other government agencies, the public of the capital also laid flowers at the monument.

Similar ceremonies took place also at Islam Karimov monuments in Samarkand and Karshi.
